West Derby Ski Club

WSDC is a group of teachers, ex-teachers and friends who have skied together for many years. Our first venture as an independent group was to Jackson Hole in 2000. Since then we have had at least one trip each year, mainly to France or Austria, apart from one notable holiday to Banff.

Unless you want to go there to jump off cliffs, avoid Jackson Hole. The journey, for us, was not worth the limited skiing, iffy snow quality and poor lift system. Grand Targhee, where we went for a day out, had better snow and was uncrowded.

The town of Jackson was a bus ride away from the slopes and buses were often crowded. Go to Steamboat or Breckenridge for a better American skiing experience - it's fairly easy to ski Vail, Keystone and Copper from either of these, though it's a bit of a drive to these from Steamboat.

Below you can see see one WDSC member who bought his ski suit in the local chip shop.
