This area is a great place for a holiday and Heavenly has the benefit of being able to ski between California and Nevada. It's fairly easy to visit other areas around the lake, such as Northstar, Sierra and Squaw.

A trip to Squaw Valley across the lake on a paddle-steamer is a must and both skiers and non-skiers will enjoy the slots and restaurants at the casinos.

Kirkwood, over the Kit Carson Pass, has some exciting skiing. Try the Cornice Run for a fairly steep bit of fun.
