Now joined to La Plagne as part of the Paradiski area, Les Arcs is a huge resort in its own right, with several base areas, including access from the valley below (Bourg-St-Maurice) via a high speed funicular.

The skiing ranges from high mountain blacks on the Aiguille Rouge to some pretty, tree-lined pistes in Peisey/Vallandry. You can even find a speed skiing track here.

The Les Arcs villages are not too pretty but more traditional architecture can be found in some of the lower areas which give access to the skiing.

This is a resort with ideal slopes for all abilities. Beginners are well served in Arcs 1600 and 1800, while the advanced skiers can entertain themselves on the steep blacks in Arcs 2000, which also has good beginners' slopes and some nice, long blues. All the areas have excellent red runs, those through the trees to Peisey are particularly pretty.

The new village of Arcs 1950 is quite pleasant and has excellent facilities.

By exploring the runs around Vallandry you will find the restaurant with the unusual urinals in the picture opposite. Leave me your e-mail address on the Chat Page if you want to know where they are.
