Part of the World's largest area on one lift pass (though not lift linked), Canazei sits in one of the best places to access the Sella Ronda, both the orange and green routes can be readily accessed from here via the Belvedere area. 

Alba has a superb beginners slope and one of the area's few black runs down to the valley. From here you can access the runs to Pozza/Buffaure, the final part of which is an easy red for miles down a tree-lined piste. You can get back to Alba on skis or take the road train to Pera for the lifts to Vigo or the bus back to Canazei (make sure you know the bus times). The buses in Canazei are pretty reliable and Campitello is easily reached by bus or on skis. 

Another good area for beginners and improvers is at Vigo/Catinaccio. The modern cable-car is reached via a series of escalators. The beginners area has a short chairlift and improvers can reach the long easy blues down to Pera via a red path which opens out into a wide red down to two long blues. Beware the final corner of the run into Pera. To avoid the red section, you can get off the bus at Pera and take two long slow chairs to the start of the blues. A new fast chair above these accesses a black,  a red and a blue.

Selva is a big village in the Val Gardena area. Lifts are very modern and efficient and the buses are reliable and allow you to visit several parts of the valley, from Ortisei to Plan di Gralba - a good place from which to start the Sella Ronda tour. The immediate skiing is quite extensive, with lifts rising from both sides of the valley. Access to Corvara, Colfosco and La Villa is relatively speedy from Dantercepies, via intermediate level runs. From Ciampanoi, access to the Plan di Gralba area is via a tricky red run but it's then quite easy to get to Campitello and Canazei. Avoid the queues by getting the bus directly to Plan di Gralba.

Arabba is a small village about 10km from Corvara. It has more skiing for advanced skiers than other parts of the Sella Ronda, with relatively quick access to the Marmolada Glacier. It is very handy for access to both Sella Ronda circuits. The hotel Evaldo is an excellent place to stay in Arabba.
