Whistler is, for me, the best of all the North American resorts. The map on this page doesn't really do it justice as the new lift linking both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains is now in place. It's best to stay in a hotel rather than a chalet so that you can sample the food in the many excellent restaurants. The Crystal Lodge is a good place to stay as it's only a few steps away from the lifts.

 

Adventurous skiers will have plenty to occupy themselves, with lots of bowl skiing and some exciting couloirs. Snow on the higher slopes is pretty reliable but be aware that this is a coastal area and it can often rain lower down and have powder on the upper slopes.
